EXTRA EDITION!
WAR DECLARED!
Pearl Harbor Bombed!

HONOLULU—U.S. Pacific Fleet is attacked by the Empire of Japan. Shortly before 8 a.m. local time on December 7, carrier-based warplanes of the Imperial Japanese Navy bombed Pearl Harbor Naval Base, Hickam Field, Wheeler Field, and other military installations in Hawaii. Reports state over 1,500 killed; that number likely to increase. The Japanese also carried out attacks on American, British, and other Allied outposts across the Pacific, including the Philippine Islands. President Roosevelt, addressing Congress at 12:30 Washington, D.C., time today, declared December 7th as “…a date which will live in infamy…” and asked for a declaration of war, which Congress granted within an hour of the president’s address.
