NEW
GAS COUPONS NATIONWIDE
Intent Is
to Reduce OPA Workload
CHICAGO—The
Office of Price Administration (OPA) announced today that it will begin issuing
new gasoline rationing coupons starting tomorrow, Wednesday, December 1. The
existing B and C coupons will be replaced with B-2 and C-2 coupons for all new
and renewed applications. The new coupons are worth five gallons of gasoline
nationwide; the monthly mileage limit has not changed. Issuing fewer coupons will
reduce the workload for local rationing boards. Officials stress that existing
coupons are still valid until their expiration dates, but will not garner the
increased gasoline allotment. Drivers will be issued the new coupons when they
apply for renewal of their Basic Mileage Ration books.
