NATIONAL SUGAR RATIONING
Registration Dates Set
CHICAGO, Ill.—Frank Bane, field chief for Office of Price Administration (OPA) director Leon Henderson, announced today the dates for national registration for sugar rationing. The dates were announced here at a meeting of state rationing administrators and regional supervisors from all forty-eight states. Registration will be conducted at public schools. Consumers will register on May 4–7, while industrial users will register one week earlier on April 28–29. The weekly ration for consumers will be either one-half pound or three-quarters pound, to be determined in the near future. Ration books will be issued with twenty-eight stamps worth one pound each. During registration, consumers must state how much sugar they have on hand, and the equivalent stamps will be removed from the book prior to issue to the consumer.
