FOOD CONSUMPTION ORDERED CUT
New Ration Points Announced
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Office of Price Administration (OPA) announced last night new ration point values for nearly nine hundred food items, effectively limiting food consumption to half of normal. Each man, woman, and child will be allotted forty-eight ration points in March, which will allow each person to purchase the equivalent of one of the following: two cans of sliced pineapple, three cans of pears, forty-eight cans of baby food. The point values go into effect with the new War Ration Book Number 2, which is required to purchase foodstuff beginning March 1 of this year. Registration for this book begins today. The announced point values will be in effect through the end of March and will be re-evaluated for April.
