HITLER’S DEMISE PREDICTED
100-1 He Sees End of War
BOSTON, Mass.—Speaking today at a press conference here for the American Newspaper Guild, Elmer Davis, director of the Office of War Information (OWI), stated “…chances are 100 to 1 that he [Hitler] won’t last until the end of the war.” He spoke of the realization by Axis countries that they cannot win, and predicted when the German people feel Hitler is a liability, “…they will do away with him.” Davis speculated the fact that American industry is now fully engaged in war production will lead to decreased morale in the Axis peoples. He also foresaw “…the many Allied nations who [sic] have a claim on Hitler…will never get a chance at him.”
