NEW RECORD FOR SHIPS!
Kaiser Builds 32 in October
NEW YORK, N.Y.—A new record for Liberty ship construction was announced yesterday with the completion of thirty-two ships during the month of October in the Richmond, Calif., shipyard of the Kaiser Shipbuilding Company. Henry J. Kaiser made the announcement at La Guardia Field in New York City during an air show for labor and management sponsored by the Brewster Aeronautical Corporation, of which Kaiser is also president. The Richmond shipyard is one of seven owned and operated by Kaiser, four at Richmond in the San Francisco Bay area and three on the Columbia River in Washington and Oregon. The first of the four shipyards in Richmond was established in December of 1940 when orders from the British government, which had been at war with Germany for over a year at that time, allowed Kaiser to expand his cargo shipbuilding enterprise.
