EDSEL FORD LIES IN STATE
Company President Died Wednesday
DETROIT, Mich.—The president of Ford Motor Company, Edsel Ford, died early Wednesday morning at his Michigan home. He was forty-nine-years old. Ford laid in state yesterday in a Detroit funeral home as the high-society and the common man paid last respects. Ford’s casket was simple and adorned with flowers provided by the Ford Local No. 600 United Auto Workers union (CIO). A private funeral was held today at 2:30 p.m. Eastern War Time (EWT) in Grosse Point, Mich. Edsel Ford was one of Detroit’s most prominent citizens, heading the company that his father Henry founded. Henry Ford revolutionized the automobile industry bringing the auto to the masses with the Model T.
