BUND LEADER COMMITS SUICIDE
Decapitated by Passenger Train
WATERLOO, Ind.—National leader of the German-America Bund, George Froboese, killed himself two days ago while on his way to comply with a subpoena to appear in Southern District Federal Court in New York. He was to testify before a grand jury in relation to Bund activities. The FBI announcement of Froboese’s suicide came last night and indicated his body was found about midnight Monday. His train arrived at the Waterloo depot at 9:15 that night, and he later laid his head on the tracks as another New York Central passenger train was arriving. Froboese was born in Hanover, Germany in 1900 and emigrated to Milwaukee, Wisc., in October 1922. In 1936, he and other leaders of the Bund traveled to Berlin to attend the Olympics and were received by Adolf Hitler.
