NEW NAZI WEAPON
Attempt to Provoke Inflation
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Office of War Information (OWI) last night revealed a new Nazi offensive against the Allies—an attempt to instigate runaway inflation in the United States. The offensive is led by a German radio station beamed into the United States. The station closes its programs with the Star Spangled Banner and claims it is the station of all free America. Common tactics include urging American workers to demand ever higher wages, to borrow money for purchases, and not to buy war bonds. The OWI states, “Inflation is a versatile weapon that has worked for Hitler across Europe…”. The OWI likened the propaganda broadcasts to the traditional military doctrine of divide and conquer as the Nazis attempt to drive a wedge between workers and those in charge of conducting the war.
