MUNITIONS MILL EXPLODES
Second at Plant in a Year
HARRISBURG, Penn.—A powder-grinding mill at the duPont Powder Plant in Fairchance exploded last night. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) along with Sergeant H.C. Johnson of the State Motor Patrol and superintendant of the plant I.C. Brown began an investigation into the cause of the explosion. No indications of possible causes have been made known at this time. It is reported the mill was operating automatically with no personnel present in the building when the blast occurred, and no injuries or deaths are known of at this time. The plant, owned by the E.I. duPont de Nemours Company of Wilmington Delaware, experienced another explosion late last fall in which two workers were killed.
