Girls Baseball Season Nears End
CHICAGO, Ill.—Phillip Wrigley, owner of the Chicago Cubs major league baseball team, has spearheaded an effort to create a professional baseball league composed of all women players. Wrigley is determined to fill the stands with spectators at the professional level by fielding ladies teams that play quality baseball. Launched in the spring of this year, the All-American Girls Softball League recently changed its name to the All-American Girls Baseball League (AAGBBL). Four AAGBBL teams have been established, all within driving distance of Chicago. League play began on May 30 of this year and ends 108 games later in early September. Fear not, though, these ladies are still ladies. They must adhere to a strict code of conduct—wearing of pants is strictly forbidden—and charm school sessions are mandatory.
