ENEMY SUB BURIED AT PEARL
According of Final Rites
HONOLULU, H.I.—Dusk yesterday brought according of final rites to a Japanese submariner killed in the Pearl Harbor attack. The U.S. navy buried half of the sailor’s two-man submarine in trench forty-feet deep with the submariner lodged inside. His body was so severely wedged between the engines and instruments it could not be extracted. The sub was sunk by a destroyer that shelled it before ramming it. The vessel was nearly cut in two in the attack. One other two-man submarine was sunk in the December 7 attack, while a third was beached and its crew captured.
